IT TAKES GRACE

2 Corinthians 8:1-2 And now, brothersyourp will not and sisters, we want you topppw about the grace that God has given the Macedonian church. In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.

In the midst of affliction, the first thing  we are likely to lose is our joy because what is there to be excited about? We lose our thanks, we lose our peace, and then we lose our faith. It is almost as though that beyond the loss of physical things, what the enemy might be truly after in the midst of affliction is our faith.

Because let’s face it, no spirit needs your physical assets, not in the literal sense. However, the absence or presence of such assets can affect the manner in which you live your life and respond to events. The Macedonian church were praised for their abundance of joy in the midst of severe affliction. Yet, we see that this was not of their own accord, it was a grace given to that church by God.

No man by himself sustains the capacity to withstand trial and affliction. You will bend, you will compromise and under intense pressure, you will break. It takes an energizing that proceeds from God to attain such a feat. It takes grace.
