Matthew 5:2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
I was quite intrigued by why scripture provides the level of detail it does, including “Jesus opening his mouth and teaching his audience”. But then it clicked ‘there is a place for everything under the sun’.
There is a place for silence, a place for gestures, and a place for action. There is even a place for written words, as these are all modes through which teaching can be achieved. However, there remains a place for words communicated through sounds. In truth, there are some things that can only be communicated through audible sound and through it, a lot more than just words can be conveyed.
Emotions, state of heart, convictions and so forth. So we should not be surprised that on the mountain top, Jesus opened his mouth and taught- again emphasising “words communicated through sound”. I enjoy silence, but while silence is beautiful, I have also come to learn through the relationships around me that not all silence is profitable. I am learning to use words communicated through sound, and perhaps you should consider it too because they will serve you well in seasons when needed.
