COMMENDED TO GOD

Acts 20:32 "I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and grant you an inheritance among them that are sanctified.

Commend has the same meaning as ‘hand over or commit” so Paul was praying thus: I commend you to God. I commend you to only firm and trusted one I know. The one from whose hands nothing  and no one can be snatched. I commend you to the Most High, the Father of Spirits and the Author and Sustainer of life. I commend you to the Ancient of days, the I AM THAT I AM.

and to the word of His grace‘ – that has building potential and capacity. The word that holds every promise, every  boundary and every commitment of God.

Like the Ephesians, we are commended to the two surest and eternal things: to the God who is timeless, eternal and unchanging, as well as his word which will out last the heavens and the earth. That beloved, should give you reasonable assurance to trust. It’s no wonder Paul said “I know whom I have believed, that he is able to keep that which I have committed to him against the day (2 Tim 1:12). He knew exactly what He was saying.
