In the last week, I have been reading the 1st book of Samuel and have been especially intrigued by the dynamics we see around royalty and power. I transfixed my lens in comparison to this generation and dare to say that in all earnest, our times are no different.
In fact, our world has changed for worse, and our society has morphed into an unfamiliar one. It has become a cut-throat system with no consideration for the harm done to others as long as we win. Simply, the cost of our wins don’t seem to matter any more. The overarching rule, unwritten and unspoken, but seemingly well understood, is that: “The only way you win is for another to lose”
We have thus become more ruthless, more manipulative, more destructive, more competitive, and just more power hungry.
Our world has become less merciful, less helpful, and less faithful,
Our wins must come at the cost of the losses of others.
I asked myself, “must you become a winner only because another person lost? And what price will you pay to win?
These are just questions for you also to ponder on.
