POWERLESSNESS IS COSTLY

If you think desiring power and influence is mundane, wait until you are placed in a position where you are resisted by power. Surely, this is not in relation to those who have an insatiable craving for power, influence and respect, and so are willing to do whatever it takes to obtain them.

Here, we refer to a level of influence on that facilitates ones ability to live well, and be impactful in the business of God. Paul and Barnabas were thriving in the spread of the word so much that the entire city had come to hear them speak. However, when jealousy prompted the Jews to approach those in power, the business of God had to be shifted into another territory because Paul and Barnabas were driven out.

Thankfully, the whole city had already heard the message. But what if there were those yet to hear? Such would miss out because ‘men with power drove out the messengers’. Whenever there is a drive to push godly men into spheres of influence or power, it is not a pursuit of worldliness, but a strategic drive to ensure God has men in those corridors so they can speak for his cause.

Powerlessness is costly, perhaps even more costly than we may have imagined.
