THE OMNIPRESENCE OF GOD

Reference: Genesis 17:3-9

Among the essential attributes of God, omnipresence is often explained as  “God is everywhere”. However, a message I recently listened to shed a bit more light to mean “God is present at all times and in all times”. That is He is in the past, the present and the future. He was, He is and He is to come.

In the text from Genesis 17 today, He speaks to Abraham in two tenses: in the future tense “I will make you the father of multitudes” because the man Abraham was yet to arrive in that position. Then He  adds ‘I have made you the father of multitudes’ as though to say ‘your tomorrow is my yesterday’

A true understanding of this attribute of omnipresence should trigger a state of rest. Pause for a moment and munch on these words: “God is in yesterday, He is in now, and He is already in tomorrow”. He is not frantically catching up on the events that are happening around us. It might be that we are the only ones who think this.

Beloved, God is in yesterday, He is in today and He is already in tomorrow. The only reason there is a “shall be” for you, is because He has already been.
