WHERE FROM, AND WHERE TO

John 8:14 Jesus told them,“These claims are valid even though I make them about myself. For I know where I came from and where I am going, but you don’t know this about me.

These words of Jesus which we read today came from the mouth of one who was self aware. He so understood his person, mission and purpose that his landmarks were set. He told his audience ” For I know where I came from and where I am going”. In other words, I understand my journey, the coordinates and the boundaries. I appreciate it’s  starting and end points.

Such knowing keeps you from losing focus and momentum. It gives you a reference point, it gives you a target and  it gives you grounding. So even when he fell three times on the way to the cross, He knew where He should arrive at and so he rose up and pressed on.

Beloved, every now and again, we’ll we need to make reference to the established landmarks of our origin and destination, for they will help us to map out our lives.
