Mark 10:28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.
“ALL” is an interesting word because it can be quite a challenge to establish exactly what is included in that all. For the widow who had two coins, that was her ALL. To Abraham, Isaac was his ALL and to Peter and Co, their family and professions were their ALL.
Why might you leave ALL?
Because you hoped to gain more? Because you wanted to? Or Because you had no choice in the matter? This might disappoint you but under all those conditions, God is not bound to reward. “Leaving all” has weight with Him only on the basis ‘that it is for ‘His sake'(Mark 10:29).
So the real question to ponder on is: ‘What is my ALL?‘ Because our ‘ALLs” are not the same, at least not in the eyes of God. Yet, his demand for OUR ALL, should draw us to realize the personalized nature of our relationship with Him. Only then can we appreciate it.
