PURSUE COMPLETE INFORMATION

References: Mark 8:22-26, Genesis 8

In today’s Gospel, Jesus asked the blind man after touching his eyes “Do you see anything?” His response was “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.(Mark 8:24)” This was because at the time, his sight had only been partially restored. So if things were left as they were, he would have related to men as he perceived them, “as trees”

We realise in Genesis 8 that instead of rushing to get out of the ark, we see Noah sending out the dove at 7-day intervals on three separate occasions. He opened the doors of the ark only when the dove did not return at the third time of asking.

Here is the message: while faith requires you to take steps despite obvious uncertainties, it isn’t the same as moving based on incomplete information. Especially where such information is available when sought, wisdom demands you pursue it. This is because incomplete information can pose significant dangers. It may limit one’s interaction with people, systems and objects because of the lack of complete clarity.

Beloved, although it may take time, pursue complete information so you have enough pieces of the puzzle to make a move.
