DANIEL CHAPTER 5

A number of questions came to mind as I read this chapter in the book of Daniel, and I invite you to ponder on those same questions:

1. Are there systems in place to accomodate the gaps in your knowledge?

Regarding those things you don’t know, are there men around you who do, or systems that mitigate the dangers of your ignorance by plugging the gaps? If not, you may suffer many sorrows and pay hefty prices.

2. How approachable have you made yourself? How open are you to  listening to others? How accessible are your courts?

The Queen made her way into courts of the king when she heard about the commotion because she knew she had such access. This isn’t an invitation to keep a doorless policy, but it is a recommendation to be approachable. Even the most High God grants his children access to approach his throne with boldness. When men cannot reach you, what they carry for you may not also get to you.

3. Are you a student of history and it’s patterns, or are you just a participant of history?

Daniel gave Belshazzar all the history about his father and then added “and you, even though you knew all this, you still did not humble yourself”
Ecclesiastes 1:9 reads “History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new”

What has been, if a negative outcome, will be again, until we learn from it and make the necessary adjustments.
