A JOURNEY TO THE OTHER SIDE

Mark 4:35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.

Today’s message was rather loud and clear-an invitation from Jesus for his disciples to tag along. He determined the destination before they set off “Let us go across to the other side”. So even though we read that he was found asleep on the stern of the boat, it was clear that arrival was guaranteed. Otherwise, while would you be asleep, on a cushion, in the midst of a storm?

The storms enroute did not matter because the ultimate end was set before the journey even begun. More like the end that God promises us ‘an expected end’. Surely, we are not given guarantees of a smooth ride, but our arrival at that predetermined destination is guaranteed, provided we set off with Jesus setting the bearing and leading the way.

The storms and winds are just interspersed along the way, with their violence and anger only to cause us to doubt if indeed the promises of God are true. They are to make us wonder if we will perish, losing both our lives and the boat, or whether we will arrive safely.

The truth though is this “

“the journey is to the other side”, and that is where we will arrive at regardless of the storms.
