GOD IS THE MASTER OF REPURPOSING

Reference text: Acts 22:3-16

Paul was a busy man. In his description of his dealings from the text today, He had received appointment letters from the high priests and elders to round up all who believed in ‘the way’. He was indeed zealous about this task and was enroute to execute it when he had this encounter.

In spite of this zeal, when Ananias came to him in Damascus, the scope of his assignment was redefined:

The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard (Acts 22:14-15)

We may perhaps have expected a full reset of all he had become, but that is not what God does. Instead, He redirected whatever Paul had: his zeal, enthusiasm, knowledge and intellect, from an ardent persecutor towards a different purpose: ‘becoming a witness’.

Surely, there are things He will chisel off when to suit his template when He appoints, but Paul’s story is a classic example of what it means when we say “God is able to take everything: your origin, your story, your history, your pains, your victories, even your defeats, and repurpose them for his Kingdom.

Beloved,

God will make do with all you have since He is an expert at repurposing, even men, because He is the original designer.
