REFERENCE: John 2:2-11
Jesus was invited to the wedding (vs 2) – That in itself raised the question ‘have you invited Jesus to your feast?’ – to your life, your family, your business? Is Jesus in the boat with you? It is that presence that gives you a hotline to hil like Mary did or the disciples when the storms arose. If Jesus is not invited, the struggle gets steeper when things go south.
Mary’s statement ‘they have no wine‘(vs 3) sets our mind on the idea that there is a way to make requests, from God and from men. Some approaches will definitely not yield the results we want, so for our lesson: ” learn how to make requests “.
The servants may have been desperate to save face at all cost because a wineless feast is a social disaster. However, despite the advise ‘to do whatever the were told'(vs 5), it was important that they were clear on whose instructions they would follow. So let’s clarify that statement again for our learning: “Even in our desperation, let’s do only what He(Jesus) tells us.”
Good wine is served at the beginning so that in the state of drunkeness, bad wine can be served without concern(vs 10). There is a way all appetites in excess dulls the senses. Don’t become so drunk and lost in your appetite that bad wine tastes like good wine to you.
