When a musician plans for a concert, there is consideration of how long their session is and an arrangement of songs that allows for elaborate expression of their artistery. Every now and again however, there are moments of unscripted interaction or request for songs that may be by popular request. While accomodating these are at the discretion of the musician, clear coundaries are required lest they get carried away by such diversions.
Jesus was in a similar situation today, where everyone came looking for Him, perpahs to receive one thing or another: healing was on display and delivering was on offer. But he tells Peter and Co when they found Him “Let us go over to the other towns that I may preach there also for that is what I came for”(Mark 1:38)
There was conflict between “what everyone was looking for from Jesus” and “why He had came”. Such conflict also exists in our lives: what everyone else thinks we should be, do, or become versus the blueprint God has for each of us. If we don’t dare to wander to find our way into that blueprint, we will be forced into other ways that may be good, but far away from what we are supposed to be doing.
