“AND GOD REMEMBERED”

Genesis 30:22 Then God remembered Rachel. He listened to her and opened her womb,

I met someone I knew from about 8 years ago when I first joined my current parish. She remembered me from an event at church when I offered her the prize I won during a draw. Truth be told, while I remember her as a chorister, I had no recollection of the said event which happened years ago.

The question that came to mind while cycling back was “if the memory of men can be so good, what about God?” The Bible texts that came rushing in were those that said “and God remembered”. Whenever this happened, big things followed because His remembrance is always followed up by action. Those at the receving end of such remembrance, including Abraham, Noah, Rachel, amd the entire nation of Israel, would tell of what this means.

God remembering might seem to suggest He forgot, but that is far from the situation. It rather suggests to ‘think about again with set actions and responses following.’ When God remembers, it means the alignment is right, and the occasion is set for his manifestation.

God has not forgotten, at least not when it concerns you because you are engraved in the palm of His hand (Is 49:16). However, He ‘remembers’ when the season is ripe for His move in any regard. Not before, and not after because the outcomes in those instances may not be as He desires.
