The homily today at Mass described a cascade of events that happens when a child is born. A man and woman become father and mother, boys and girls become brothers or sisters, parents become grandparents. Nephews, nieces, cousins and so forth. So a complex dynamic of relationships evolve.
We realise therefore that one change, one decision is all it took for the cascade to occur. We are at that time of year where people begin to make big resolutions, sometimes life changing decisions that Inherently have the potential to initiate a cascade. The direction and impact of the cascade directly depends on the kind and quality of choices made.
Beloved, let us therefore remain discerning, and appreciate that discernment is not only a spiritual activity, but one that also involves our minds. The quality of our choices is something we should always bear in mind because they determine the cascade of events that follow.
