Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
What comes with a mind stayed on God is ‘perfect peace’-the Hebrew word used in this verse is Shalom which has many tributaries including “Safety, wellness, happiness, friendliness, welfare, health, prosperity, and peace”. So this is not just about maintaining singular focus, but the cost of missing out on all that it entails.
Because here is the real conundrum: in the absence of peace, there is unrest, and that also comes with its own package: ” turmoil, fear, confusion, lack, and an ever present sense of danger. Between the two options therefore, peace or its absence, one clearly has an advantage over the other.
God does the keeping in perfect peace, but the individual has to keep their mind stayed on him. That is their contribution in the matter.
A wandering mind can very easily be redirected away from an intended destination. So beloved, maintain your focus.
