UPDATED STRATEGIES

Even though today’s Gospel tells the details of a destruction, there was another message on strategy that stood out to me.

"Luke 21:21 Then those in Judea must flee to the mountains, those inside the city must leave it, and those in the countryside must not go into it"

Three groups of people were given three unique strategies to escape danger. It would be inappropriate to deliver the same advise to all three because the circumstances of each was different. This has unfortunately become the problem with blind followership- everyone employing the same strategy even when circumstances change.

I acknowledge the place of models-the place of people who have made a forward advance and have chartered waters others have not. They have stories to tell, examples to share and strategies that have worked. However, I am cautious about blindly following strategies just because they worked for others in their circumstances.

What worked for one, may need adapting in another setting even if it is to be adopted. Even if you are following a preset example, you have to identify strategies that work for you. Find strategies for your study: both word and academics, find a strategy for prayer, relationships, career, business etc.

Our paths through life are so different that we cannot get into the mindset that “one size fits all” because the reality is it does not.

You cannot expect yesterday’s strategy to produce today’s results. Don’t copy blindly.
