Saint Paul in Ephesians 3:18 presented the love of God in four dimensions: “may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the length and width, height and depth of God’s love”.
LENGTH: We may wonder how far the love of God can go, and we arrive at a time point called ‘forever and ever’ or ‘eternity past’. From before time began, and even at the end of time, God, who is love, existed. How far He will go for us was seen in that ‘while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
WIDTH : Who is captured in the love of God? The saint, the sinner, the good, the bad, the slave, and the master. His love embraces all warmly, for He so loved the WORLD that He gave his son. The blanket of God’s love is warm and wide enough to embrace all men.
DEPTH : How deep then can the love reach? It can reach into the innermost parts of man’s being and overwhelm them. It has the capacity to reach into the hopelessness, and despair, the chaos and nothingness, and bring out a peace that surpasses understanding. That love is relentless.
HEIGHT : As high as the heavens are above the earth-a distance perhaps, not quantifiable in the realm of man – that is how high His love lifts us. To the point where He lifts us to be seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above. It is a love that can reach a person even in the mirry clay, and raise him to the status of a champion.
Beloved, our goal then is to engage with all the dimensions of God’s love because each stream opens us up to waves of different possibilities in Him.
