WHAT PRICE HAVE YOU PAID?

Luke 11:31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

Our lens is zoomed into the middle section on today’s verse ‘for she came from far to hear the wisdom of Solomon’. At the prospect of a long, and risky journey, filled with unpredictability, the Queen of Sheba is commended for her pursuit of wisdom. There was therefore a cost function in to be considered.

We can tell the price she was willing to pay, so the question turns over to us ‘how much would we pay to obtain those things we seek to acquire? Be it encounters, graces, access, influence, material resources etc. The price this powerful queen paid was that of meekness and humility, to even hear Solomon’s wisdom, despite her status.

Solomon himself paid the price of sacrifice (1 Kings 3) to receive the understanding heart for which he was now being sought. David paid the price of isolation and training with wild beasts before defeating Goliath. No one simply attains what they have, or is celebrated in the open just because they got lucky. In many instances, hefty priced have been paid – prices of sacrifice, meekness, prayer, learning, hardwork, diligence etc. Those things you may not see.

But regardless, we out to bear in mind that, ‘

the price YOU pay has to cost YOU’, and not billed on another person’s tab. No one should pay the price for the results you seek.
