BAD TIMING CAN BE COSTLY

We read the story captioned in scripture as”the good Samaritan”. In this story, we read about a man travelling between Jerusalem and Jericho. This is an estimated 18 mile journey described historically as going through the dessert and also had some steep climbs. It was a route used by pilgrims, armies and merchants.

On the journey we read about today, scripture describes the man’s encounter with robbers as opportunistic, “he fell among robbers”(Luke 10:30). Regardless, in this meet, he lost all his possession, his physical health and nearly lost his life. It’s worth highlighting that this Jewish man wasn’t the only one who made this journey that day, because we read about three others: a priest, a levite and a Samaritan, all of whom were using that route the very same day.

Beloved, there is such a thing as a right timing for endeavours. Without this, even  planned journeys with predictable outcomes can became journeys filled with many losses. Whenever we pray ‘lead me or guide me Lord’, one of the things we seek is for our steps to be ordered right, to know the moments when actions  carry the most benefit or avoid the most danger.

In all essence, everything does not carry the same weight at every time, there is a time for everything. Yes, even a right time for everything.
