BURN SOME BRIDGES

A bridge serves as a connection point between to people, locations or even ideologies. Therefore, a bridge is a strategic infrastructure that needs to be preserved. Thus, for those key bridges that maintaining your connection to God, purpose and destiny, preserve them. However, today’s Gospel takes a rather opposite opinion to the preservation of bridges. The words of Jesus captured in Mark 9:43-48 captures the core of the message version reads:

“If your hand or your foot gets in God’s way, chop it off and throw it away. You’re better off maimed or lame and alive than the proud owner of two hands and two feet, godless in a furnace of eternal fire. And if your eye distracts you from God, pull it out and throw it away. You’re better off one-eyed and alive than exercising your twenty-twenty vision from inside the fire of hell.

Beloved, it will hurt, and it will be difficult, but there are moments in your life when you have to take fuel and fire to burn some bridges completely. In particular, when they lead back to places and people God wants you disconnected from, or provide access to the things that bare potential to thwart the course of your destiny and fulfilment of kingdom purpose, burn them down.

You stand to lose more maintaining such bridges than by losing them.
