WHEN GOD SAYS ‘NO’

There are parts of scripture that tell you exactly what it wants to say. No need for longwinded interpretations, the content send the message loudly and clearly. Today’s text from the letter of James is one of such and the verses of interest are as follows:

"You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure". (James 4:2-3)

Among the reasons for unanswered prayer, chiefest among them is the state of heart, since the heart is the tray upon which the incense of prayer is lifted. That is the one thing the God of heaven, who searches the hearts and tries its reins looks at. Sometimes, we don’t get answers not  because God knows the hidden motives behind our requests, but rather because He is aware of the impact getting those answers will have on us.

You can be rest assured that God is too merciful, too kind and too loving to answer each and every request we make according to our schedules and timelines. Whenever He says No, it is always for our sake, not His.
