The power of God is accessible through intimacy, and that is the highest form of access because it requires a relationship with Him personally. However, there is another dimension of power which God has hidden in principles. One necessarily does not need a relationship with God for principles to work, only a willingness to adhere to their requirements.
These two are intended to go hand in hand because an intimate, spiritual christian with no adherence to principles will still be in trouble because the systems of men are principle based. Thus, Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians was one that highlighted a principle presented in Proverbs 10:4 “Hands that don’t want to work make you poor. But hands that work hard bring wealth to you.”
Paul wrote”Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.”(2 Thess 3:10).
We must be intentional about our compliance not just to spiritual realities, but also to principles: ‘Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will be stationed in the presence of kings; he will not stand before obscure men (Prov 22:29)
This “principle of competence and value” has the end goal of a seat at the table of greatness-but it is built on the platform of skill, mastery and relevance.
We cannot crave the results of others when we don’t know on what principles those results are founded. But don’t be deceived, even if unseen, there are foundations. Whether it is about diligence, hardwork, honour, relationships etc, those who are compliant with principles will become beneficiaries of the dimension of God’s power hidden in them. Stay spiritual, but you ignore principles at your own peril.
