Jeremiah 18:2 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will let you hear my words.”
It’s important to establish some base facts: 1. The words to be heard by Jeremiah were already available but
2. Hearing them was dependent on his obedience to get to a specific location.
Reading further, we encounter the point at which the word of the God came to him, and that was after he had perceived the work of the potter(vs 4).
We are charged to walk by faith, not by sight, but that does not suggest the presence of faith means all natural senses are non existent. In fact, often times those are the channels through which our faith is built up-‘faith comes by hearing, hearing the word of God'(Romans 10:17)
The message Jeremiah received from God, made more sense to him because it was linked to the image he had just seen of the potter’s handiwork. A similar approach is noticed with Abraham who God asked to number the stars before giving him the promise that “His descendents will be as numerous as the stars of heaven” (Genesis 26:4).
Beloved, there are times when God has to ensure that your mind, through your senses, can capture certain realities, before He brings them to pass. Because
‘whatever you mind cannot hold, your hands cannot keep.’
