RESULTS TO SHOW FOR EFFORT

Isaiah 26:18 We became pregnant, we writhed in pain; we gave birth to wind. We have won no victories on earth, and the earth’s inhabitants have not fallen.

The question “what do you have to show for it?” is what comes to mind after reading the text from the Prophet Isaiah. We could consider the picture of a farmer who sows seeds and at harvest time, there are no fruits to gather. In such times, there is a concern of ‘wasted effort’.

That was the picture Isaiah painted using a ‘pregnancy that results in giving birth to wind’. Figuratively, a process that results in expected outcomes not being met and with nothing to show for it. Wind is intangible and invisible, and not the outcome one expects from a pregnancy that comes to full term.

However, we know that many are the risks every pregnancy faces hence, a conscious effort is made to preserve that which is to be birthed. In the natural, there are reductions or modifications to assigned tasks, exclusion from certain activities, and even amendments to diet. Likewise, a spiritual dimension of pregnancy should be considered as one could be pregnant not literally with child, but with ideas and strategies, brilliant destinies and glorious advancements.

I pray for you today and I encourage you to make this a conscious prayer for yourself too: ‘that in the name of Jesus, every ‘pregnancy’, will arrive to full term, and no one gives birth to wind’
