WHAT YOU IS NOT ALL THERE IS!

In a game of football, 11 players at anyone time stand as the face of an entire team. Whatever actions, decisions and outcomes are obtained therefore, even though there may be pointing of fingers, it is counted as ‘the team’s results’. I have been reading the news over the last 24 hours and today I came across an article that contained the names of the backroom staff of the England national team. There were names on this list that some people will never get to know about.

However, it will be folly to think that the eleven players on the pitch are all there is. Consider the training sessions, the meals, the analysis, and the recoveries? There are a host of tasks being performed away from the limelight. So what is the lesson?

“What you SEE, is not all there is”.

While you can see the lush greenery or fruits of an evergreen tree, what remains hidden are the network of roots reaching deep into the soil to supply nutrients and to provide anchorage. Don’t be fooled only by results, and perhaps, don’t be too disappointed by every setback. There is always more you are not seeing. Many of the individuals standing tall are supported by others unseen, without whom those standing will collapse and fall.

For the believer, that sure rooting and foundation is Jesus, the rock upon whom when we build, we have guarantee from every wind, storm or flood.
