KEEP YOUR CONSECRATION REQUIREMENTS

Matthew 9:15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

The Pharisees and the disciple of John wondered why the disciples of Jesus were not fasting the same way they were. Much akin to how society questions the pursuit of anyone who does not seem to be following the ‘common trajectory’.

Jesus’ response was not to outrightly say fasting is not the right thing for my disciples, only that right now, it was not. There are seasons of life where things we define as ‘good’, are not necessarily appropriate. Outside ‘seasons of relevance’, some good things do not achieve their intended purposes.

The summary is this ‘We are in different seasons of life, so you cannot be expected to pursue the same things others are.’ Our trajectories in life are unique, and the ingredients required to arrive at the end destination will differ in proportion and timing. While someone might need an hour of prayer, a two day retreat or hours of reading, you might need less or more.

Your consecration requirements will be different, so find yours and stick to it. The goal is to ensure that the specific recipe required for your journey is adhered to.
