John 20:25 They told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he replied, “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in his side.”
The man Jesus, was distinguishable from all others by two things: the nail-pierced hands and the spear-pierced side. Those were concrete evidence that made him stand apart, hence the reason Thomas was insisting on those proofs before he believed. Within every audience therefore, those permanent scars had become identifiers that makes Jesus stand out. Ultimately, Thomas exclaims ‘my Lord and my God’.
But you, who are you? You have now been so mixed with the crowd that we cannot tell you apart. Every sense of your uniqueness is gone, nothing that makes you stand out is identifiable. Just who are you and what do you have?
Among the many things God gave to us, are things that distinguish us from the everybody else. Traits, values, features, gifts and talents in proportions and combinations that no one else possesses. The tragedy however is many have abandoned their uniqueness in pursuit of attaining social acceptance.
Again, the nail-pierced hands and the spear-pierced side distinguishes Jesus, what distinguishes you?
