While it is expected that we are able to see the good in everyone, the truth is that many hide behind masks. Many wolves are hidden under sheep’s clothing.

Therefore, in order not to become prey, we are admonished to look for fruits present and nothing else. Fruits are the out showing of what is inherent within because as Jesus highlighted, “A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.” (Matthew 7:18). Thus, regardless of desire, there is no inherent potential for a bad tree to produce good fruit.

Fruits are therefore the gold standard for determining wolves hidden in sheep’s clothing. In simple terms, the appetites of wolves are different, their pack instinct varies from the herd instinct of sheep and their howl compared to the bleating of sheep couldn’t be miles apart. No matter then how hard they try to hide, this innate nature will find expression.

No amount of intricate exterior adornment is sufficient to eternally mask a wolf’s presence in sheep’s clothing. However, let’s not be deceived into letting our guards down. The fit of masks are getting more and more sophisticated, and so are the strategies of infiltration by the enemy. Let us stay vigilant, lest the enemy gain an advantage over us. Look for Galations 5:22 fruits, love, joy, peace, patience etc, those fruits that remain.
