Reference text: 2 Kings 19

When a person learns a new skill that gives them an advantage, in instances where the learning was done in secret, it is almost as though they are waiting for the ideal opportunity to show off. And in some cases, it feels that is exactly what God does.
Sennacherib took upon himself the task of writing a letter to king Hezekiah to express the might of the Assyrian army. While he was clearly allowed to do this, he did something he should not have, and that was to ‘misrepresent God’ as weak and incapable. God’s response was rather emphatic: an angel entered the Assyrian camp, and 185000 soldiers were struck down. Mind you, this was one angel.
So when God is referred to as the ‘Lord of hosts,’ one can picture the might that comes with it. Often, the might of God is something we do not appear to appreciate or fail to consider in it’s fullness. However, one thing is certain, when God shows up for His own, His might goes forth and there is always evidence to show He has been around.
Indeed, Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.” (Rev 7:12)
