2 Kings 11:1 And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal seed.
We read about Queen Athaliah, mother of the King Ahaziah. A woman who upon hearing of the death of her son, did not fall into the default state of mourning, but rather into a state of power consolidation. In this wise, she killed off all the royal family who she deemed obstacles who wason her way to the throne. It was Jehosheba, who saved Joash from this slaughter.
There are times when we forget, but one things we can be sure of is “God always has men”. When Elijah though he was the last standing Prophet, God told him “I have a reserve of 7000 who have not bowed to Baal”. The same was true of Paul, told: “for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many in this city who are my people. (”Acts 18:10).
It may sometimes look like darkness has the upper hand in certain moments, but of note, God has men. Across all spheres and in all quarters, there are those who will do his bidding. Not all of such men will be “believers”, but they are men who can move to advance the purposes of God, preserve lives, lift others, and provide resources for kingdom advance.
