Matthew 6:7 And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.
Of note, prayer is often carried on the plate of words because praise, thanks giving, petition and worship are all rendered through words. So what happens when you genuinely have no words to convey what you have to say? Does that mean prayer cannot happen?
There will be many moments in time where words may simply not be enough, those moments when one is overwhelmed in a way that makes finding the right words a tricky call. There will be moments when words used may be nothing short of empty phrases and babbling, sounding strong to our minds but striking no cords with God.
Before becoming a fruit of our lips, prayer must first begin from the depths of the heart. It begins from a place of more than words, and that is a place you have to find.
