CONSIDER CONSEQUENCES

Reference text: 1 Kings 21:17-29

When Ahab went on to possess the vineyard of Naboth after his death, he was all cheerful and excited. He had no concerns about the consequences of His actions, only the immediate results of achieving his earnest desires. And in many ways, we are like him because often in some circumstances, we forget all the possible consequences that are nested into the decisions and choices we make.

A culmination of the choices made by Ahab, incited by his wife Jezebel, brought the anger of God so heavily that the judgment pronounced extended across the entire lineage of Ahab. His children, who had done no wrong, will emerge to deal with the consequences of a decision they had not partook of.

Some of the choices we make in life are not only for us, generations after will either become recipients of its good fruits or bearers of the negative consequences associated with them. It is important therefore that we are conscious of the after effects when making choices because embedded in each of our decisions, are consequences.

So don’t simply make choices, consider the consequences of those choices.
