Reference text: 1 Kings 22:1-16
“Ecclesiastes 8:4 reads” Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou? “ It is therefore of interest to see king Ahab’s attitude when his request was refused by Naboth. Thumbs up to Naboth for refusing to let go of an inheritance which would have lost its value had he handed it over”; it would have gone from being a vineyard to a vegetable garden.
However, Ahab, even though reigning as king; completely forgot his royalty and instead went on about throwing a tantrum-“downcast and refusing to eat” (1 Kings 21:4). His wife, Jezebel, on the other hand, who is often the subject of negative discussions; was quick to encourage her husband, to remind him that he was indeed king and his attitude did not resemble royalty.
Beloved, there are moments in life when you will need reminding of who you are and what you possess. Times when you need a loud, audible recognition even of the strengths, gifts, talents, access and influence you already possess. These reminders have to be timely and often, lest you get disheartened.
Whenever you forget your royalty and priesthood with God, I pray that through the ministry of men, the comfort of scripture, and the fellowship with the Holy Spirit, you will be reminded of who you are and what you have.
