DAY 122/366
Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now He commands all men everywhere to repent,
There is a season in everyone’s life where they might get away with ignorance. This is the story we relay to students starting out in first year when we tell them ‘you might be able to play the I don’t know card in first year, and you will be readily taught. In subsequent years, the same answer will receive very different reactions.
A child does not have to worry about the consequences of their action, they are likely to get away with ‘I didn’t know’. So for a child, ignorance often has no cost. That is why God overlooked the times of ignorance. However, when one begins to mature, they will come to realize that ignorance is no longer free, but that it comes with consequences.
Even God’s position has shifted from overlooking ignorance, to a call to repentance. Why? Because a judge awaits at the end of time and at that point, your ignorance will be a big cause for concern.
Ignorance may have been described as bliss, but that is only when you’re a child. Beyond that, ignorance comes at a cost, often a steep one. So don’t become comfortable in ignorance, it may not be bliss.
