DAY 119/366

In my line of work, I get the opportunity to meet groups of people with varying degrees of knowledge, expertise and experience. This morning, I had the opportunity to ask a question I had not asked in a while “What has been your secret?” And the audience to this question was a hundred and four year old lady I met.
It made sense because 104 years of living, across different centuries, seasons, and generations; is enough time to have accrued relevant life experiences. Her age is the result she has to show for it, if nothing else. She was kind to share a few things which I also share:
- “If you have any worries, deal with it quickly”.
- “Always have a good sense of humour, a reason to laugh always makes a difference” .
- “Eat a lot natural fruits and exercise”
- “We had little growing up, but we were content with what we had. You take no material possessions on your way out, don’t become attached to these things.”
- “I have benefited from genuine friends and close family relationships, these will always be a source of strength.”
- “More people are educated now than in my time, but people don’t seem any wiser. We are still focused on the things that don’t really matter.”
