POWER AND INFLUENCE MATTER

DAY 112/366

Acts 13:50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

When people in authority resist what you offer, you are very likely going to be in trouble. Therefore, when God wants his purposes to be fulfilled in specific seasons, he causes those with influence and power to be at peace with you.

As we read today, despite the flourishing and spread of the word of God through the entire region, it became apparent that the Jewish leaders were concerned about the degree of spread. Their response was to engage the devout women and leading men, in other words, those who had influence within existing systems. Consequently, Paul and Barnabas were expelled from that district.

There are many things required for advancing any mandate: beyond the message and it’s acceptance, we cannot leave conversations about power and influence out. Ignoring these is like leaving one of the core pillars of a building out and attempting to put the full weight on the remainder. It is likely to crash.

This is why men and women who have an interest in advancing the purposes of God are required in places of influence. Else, many will become victims of those who have not the faith.
