DAY 111/366

Psalms 2:8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
This verse of this Psalms always gets believers excited, because it presents to us boundless possibilities that are present in God. One glance and it appears we are but one ask away from stepping into unimaginable inheritances. However, preceding this verse is one that caught my attention today:
“I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee” (Psalms 2:7).
Even though Jesus is the centre of this Psalm, the proximity of these two verses draws our attention to who actually is entitled to Inheritances, and that is ‘a son’. One definition of ‘sons’ is found in Romans 8:14 ‘as many as are led by the Spirit, they are the sons of God’. There are certain Inheritances in God reserved only for sons, no amount of asking will bring them to you. You have to be a son to receive them.
Believing in His name, you receive power to ‘become a son (John 1:12)’- but your intentional commitment to becoming a son through your growth is what will determine whether you actually receive the inheritance for sons or not.
