A DAY OF PROFITING WILL COME

Acts 8:30-31a Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?”

Profiting may not always come from knowledge at the point of knowing. There are times when bodies of knowledge ought to be received as buffers and kept in store houses waiting for a day of profiting. In John 14:26, Jesus presented a twofold ministry of the Holy Spirit ‘to teach them all things, and remind them of all He has said to them’. His assignment in the latter instant was therefore to breath upon what was already present for profiting to occur.

The Ethiopian eunuch in today’s text was reading the book of Isaiah, knowledge that made no sense to him, but was required as the starting point for his conversation with Phillip. Some of the passages in scripture, some of the advice you may receive from godly people, and some of the experiences you may encounter in life will not make sense at the point of reception.

Regardless, have a place for them because when it’s time for profit to come from them, you will see them in the light they were intended to be seen.
