DAY 76/366

On the celebration of Palm Sunday which marks Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, the one question arising is what would have been the motives of those who had Jesus killed? In fact, one wonders what could have gotten a man like Jesus killed. Besides the identification of human attributes like greed and jealousy, the only other reality highlighted is that the cross captured “the intersection between human sin and divine love”.
This intersection arises from the heart of the God who lives in ‘eternal now’. The one who is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. So although the Paschal mystery: the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, occurred over 2000 years, it remains ‘the event that is’. As mind-bending as this is, we can dare to say that “What Christ did then, affected us now, and what we do now, affected Him then.”
Therefore, much like an unopened letter in your hands, you have been forgiven, only your reception of that forgiveness is still pending. Also, since God lives in eternal now, He also speaks in the ‘present eternal tense’. Whatever He has spoken thus in His word, remains applicable even beyond time. So, every promise remains eternally active, ready to deliver at whatever time it is engaged.
