DAY 75

John 11:47, 48 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man does many miracles. If we let him go on thus, every one will believe in him, and the Romans will come and destroy both our holy place[a] and our nation.”
We see a real concern from the Jewish authorities about the influence of Jesus on the people’s behaviour. In fact, such was their dread about losing their own power and their hold over the people that finding a way to eliminate him seemed like the best way out. They had historical records of individuals who stood with God and so overthrew systems. They knew of how Moses turned the entire nation of Egypt upside down, and the exploits of Samson against the phillistines. They knew too well.
You may think you are ‘just one man’, but like Jeremiah, in that one man, God has placed the capacity and potential to overturn nations and systems. To the Prophet Jeremiah, God spoke thus: ‘See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant’ (Jer 1:10).
We ourselves are probably the only ones unaware of the capacity sealed within us. But for those over whom that influence can be felt, they have deciphered and are doing all it takes to frustrate and thwart that emergence. God changes not, so that same power is at work in us – the potential for great impact. Let’s become conscious of this, for only then can we begin walking in its manifestation.
