DON’T BE SHAPED BY ALL OPINIONS

DAY 71

John 7:40-41,43 On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.”Others said, “He is the Messiah.”Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee?... Thus the people were divided because of Jesus.

There will always be more than one school of thought about you. Oh yeah, don’t flatter yourself into thinking you will be in  single category of opinions ‘everyone likes me’ or ‘everyone hates me’ or ‘everyone supports the vision’, you are kind, your are mean, etc. You couldn’t be more off the mark. In fact, it is concerning if you think you fall into only one of these brackets.

Not that biased and prejudiced opinions are to be celebrated, but while you might strive to shape opinions about you along certain lines, these opinions will vary regardless of what you think and do. In fact, men are clearly entitled to hold whatever opinion of you they choose to.

That is why one cannot become a product of the opinions of others. When Jesus asked the disciples ‘who do men say I am’ and ‘who do you say I am?’, it wasn’t to establish his identity because the father had already spoken’ this is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased’. At this point, he already had a clear manifesto presented in Luke 4:18 ‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon for He has anointed me to.. ‘. This was what was guiding his walk.

While the people were divided as to who He might be, Jesus was doing exactly what He was there to do and their opinions did not alter this.

Don’t ignore wise, Spirit-led counsel, but by all means, don’t  allow your life to be shaped by the unfiltered opinions of men.
