DAY 70/366
We read an interesting account today, one that brings up the the question ‘was Jesus afraid?’ Our text of interest from John 7:1-2, sheds light on an occasion where Jesus preferred not to travel through Judea because the Jews wanted to kill him. For a man of his influence, stature with the kind of crowd he commanded, this sounds like pure cowardice.
However, a careful consideration will reveal an underlying wisdom. There are many times when we stand behind the shadow of bravado and overconfidence, and so do not take required precautions to preserve our lives. As much as we are spiritual, our physical bodies, which authorizes us to be on this earth are not permanent – they are subject to wear and tear. Your assignment, if incomplete, is cut short if you lose your physical body
It is therefore not in your interest to engage every fight or danger that comes your way. There are many moments when the door of escape opens for you to flee. Or like Jesus, to apply cautious wisdom.
An unnecessary show of bravado: heading to places where danger visibly awaits you, putting yourself in compromising situations where rescue has to be initiated, and taking uncalculated risks are not a show of wisdom.
Rather, it is a reflection of a lack of knowledge in ‘destiny preservation & fulfilment’ and ‘kingdom advancement’, both of which are linked to the application of wisdom.
