DAY 64/366

Nearly every new product comes with a manual. The inclusion of this, often bulky document, isn’t to provide an additional catalogue for one’s reading list, instead, It serves as a valid reference point and boundary within which the product is to be used. That is the only windows of use the manufacturer’s warrantee covers, not that it cannot be used otherwise.
The same is true for the commands and instructions we receive from the Lord. Jesus attributed “great in kingdom” to those who revere the law, and are unafraid to teach the same to others”(Mt 5:19). In Psalm 19:7-8, we read
The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
We come to know that, the joy of the Lord is strength; that in the kingdom, we rise and walk by light, and that anything is built by wisdom. All these are products that come as a result of obedience to the commands of God. Unfortunately, we perceive these commands as burdensome, as additional loads that place limits on our pursuit of comfortable living.
However, when we begin to understand the perspective of the law giver then will we appreciate why He gives laws. The natural inclination of man to go his own way, presents a need to offer boundaries to keep him on his walk. Since we are limited in our vision, there are many ways that seem right to us, only little do we know that the end of such is death.
God constrains us because He loves us.
