Reference text: Deuteronomy 26:16-19

We read an excerpt from the love story between God and Israel today and this scene in particular, is one where both parties take turns professing their love for each other. In verse 16, we read Israel’s confession, declaring the Lord as their God and that they will walk in obedience to Him, keep His decrees, commands and laws—that they will listen to Him”

For His part, God’s claims them for His treasured possession, and promised to set them in praise, fame and honour high above all the nations he has made. They were to keep all his commands and be holy to Him (vs 19)

God had taken upon himself to do those things His people had no chance of completing on their own accord. That brought back my take home from a Bible study today: “

I am not responsible for all of myself because I do not belong to myself”.

I am Christ’s, and Christ is God’s ( 1 Cor 3:22). He is responsible towards me.

Of course like Israel, there is a token of our contribution, but knowing God’s responsibility towards you, takes a truck load of weight off your shoulders.
