NURTURING  UNIQUENESS

DAY 50/366

Matthew 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats:

This text has been playing on repeat in mind for the last day and I have been asking ‘why would a shepherd separate these two animals? Beyond the context of the parable Jesus told, in a very literal connotation, goats and sheep often naturally incompatible in the same setting.

Goats tend to be solo creatures, wandering wherever their feet lead them, while sheep have an innate flocking instinct. They tend to go with the crowd. A mix of these two worlds colliding creates the potential for a seismic disruption in normal patterns: particularly eating, mating and sleeping habits. This has an eventual knock on effect.

This separation isn’t just about right and wrong, left and right, inferior or superior, it hinges on understanding the specific  requirements of each animal. We ought to bear in mind that needs differ and are unique, whether by location, interest, personality, and so forth.. what works for one, will not necessarily work for another.
Thus, mixing and matching assuming a one size fits all approach is a recipe for disaster.

It takes effort, but identify the uniqueness of the people and things around you, and work towards nurturing those strong points. They will flourish, and so will you.
