DAY 49/366

Mark 1:13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
We read about the devil tempting Jesus today, and through that our minds are cast to the daily encounters that seek to also test our value systems and our love for God. Albeit, we recall that our while testing is from God to prove us, temptations arise from the enemy hinging on to the desires that might be lurking within our own hearts.
When faced with temptations therefore,
to show that we have built capacity, stature and stamina, we dig deep with the aim to win against whatever is thrown against us. In some instances, such fighting is the way to go. However, there is another domain when temptations come, and that is go the way of ‘flight’.
There will be many cases where the one who escapes, is the one who wins. When you stand to battle in those fights, you will eat a humble pie of defeat. We ought to become comfortable fleeing to God in the face of temptations that particularly seem to highlight our own self-sufficiency, those are the ones that will sweep you off your feet and bring you crushing down.
Don’t get to the point where you become convinced that you are strong and your feet stand firm and unmoved, that is pride.
