DECISIONS CARRY CONSEQUENCES

DAY 46/366

Luke 9:22 For what is a man profited, having gained the whole world, and having destroyed or having suffered the loss of himself?

Our life is determined not solely by the existence of an extensive and well intended blueprint set out by God, but also by the contributing effects of our decisions. Ultimately, our life becomes more a sum of our decisions and choices because without our cooperation, even the best intentions of God may be thwarted by our own hands.

Through our choices, we can delay and even become obstructions to what God is doing. Hence, the reason Moses was clear to the people in Deuteronomy 30:19 “choose life”, make the decision that positions you in the blueprint of God for you. You may hold back because you don’t know what decision works best, however, refusing to make a decision in itself is a decision.

Nonetheless, we ought to bear in mind that like an object shows off its shadow in light, decisions will always be accompanied by consequences: positive of negative. There are some decisions that look like wins, but in the context of today’s Gospel, there are those gains that actually translate in heavy losses.

As you read this, I pray for you:

  • That you are guided by God in your decision making, and that
  • For any wrong decision contributing to heavy losses with no gain, the mercy of God speaks for you.
