THE BATTLE FOR OUR TIME

DAY 29/366

‘The unit of destiny is time’: this was the first statement that came to mind when I read today’s Gospel. Those words were part of a message listened to a while back. Time is the foundation and the building block for many things because of ‘the law of process’. Growth and maturity are functions of time.

Thus, the alloted time for things have to be met for results to become concrete. The assignment of distractions therefore, whether internally or externally influenced, is to redistribute time into ventures of non profit. The man at Gadara, whom Jesus encountered today, under the influence of unclean spirits ‘always spent night and day crying out and cutting himself with stones'(Mark 5:5)

The question arising is: “to what end?” To his life, the kingdom of God, and the society, those actions achieved no real purpose. They were actions to occupy his time from being directed towards a meaningful venture. When Jesus cast out the unclean spirit, his purpose began: ‘to become a witness of Jesus in the Decapolis’.

The real battle in this age, beyond being a battle between good and evil, is a battle for our MINDS and for our TIME. Many will not realise until the clock runs down. You waste time at your own peril.
